Long John Silver's Copycat Batter Used For Chicken Or Fish

- 3/4 cup flour shopping list
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 3/4 cup water shopping list
How to make it
- Sift dry ingredients.
- Add water and mix well.
- Use to coat fish or chicken filets.
- Cover the fish completely.
- Deep fry until nice golden brown.

- An added note.You may need to play with the salt amount a bit.Some people find this recipe not salty enough, while others think it's fine.And make sure your fish or chicken is patted dry or the batter may not stick as well.

This is the traditional batter for the traditional English Fish and Chips! Great post - thank you! A little squirt of vinegar helps to keep the batter crispy.

I've never been to Long John Silver's so I don't know if this is a copycat or not. Its good but I think 1/4 tsp of salt is too little. Maybe 1/2 tsp would be better. I think this would cover two pounds of fish. Put this in IMI on 1/31/15.
