How to make it

  • Cook potatoes in jackets. (peel) Slice while warm.
  • Mince bacon and saute in large skillet with onions, celery and pickle.
  • Combine water, sugar, paprika, vinegar, salt and mustard. Heat to boiling point. Pour into skillet with bacon mixture - then fold in potatoes

    yes, that is great! to sauté the onions with the bacon - great idea, it will be so much easier on the stomach - but not on the hips, because i'll eat more of the salad. thank you for posting!

    This delicious and EASY dish went over VERY WELL with everyone! It was especially perfect hot, but remained wonderful even as it cooled, as we all noshed through the evening on the bounty shared. My Sister-in-law also made Sauerbraten for the first time ever...and THIS German Hot Potato Salad went with that SO WELL! Thank you for such a great addition to our Holiday food fun!

    I'll be trying this Christmas Eve...our family decided to honor our German blood with all German food at the annual Christmas Eve Party! It sounds simple and delish..I've never made this before either and I trust YOUR judgment! lol
