Flutterbyes with peas and ham
From snufflebunny15 18 years agoIngredients
                    - 1 1/2 cups of half and half shopping list
 - 8 ounces of bow tie pasta (I use whole wheat or the new enriched if I can find it, or I sub spinach fettucini noodles) shopping list
 - 1 pkg of baby peas, thawed, never canned, those are gross shopping list
 - 3 tbsp of butter shopping list
 - 2 tbsp of flour shopping list
 - 6 slices of deli ham, rolled up and sliced into shreds shopping list
 - 1/2 cup of grated swiss shopping list
 - 1/4 cup of grated asiago cheese shopping list
 - salt and pepper shopping list
 - (mom said to grate fresh nutmeg, I say get real...don't have it) shopping list

How to make it
                    - Cook noodles of choice in lots of boiling always salted water.
 - heat the half and half, keep warm.
 - Melt butter and stir in flour, cook a minute, add warm milk and stir very fast with a whisk. cook until it thickens and bubbles.
 - Add the cheese by handsful and stir well after each addition.
 - finally add the peas, ham to warm up and taste and add salt and pepper.
 - Drain the noodles as dry as you possibly can pour the sauce over top and shake it up to mix.
 - Eat. If you want sprinkle with more cheese or with parmesan. Sometimes I'll add just a pinch of red pepper flakes if I have em. Um, I've been known to add a packet of "fire" hot taco sauce to the mix without any harm done to anyone. Depends on if there are any packets in the junk drawer.

I like your mom's style. She's right about the fresh-grated nutmeg, btw.
