How to make it

  • Pour enough canola oil for browning in frying pan
  • Put pork chops in oil, sprinkle with garlic powder, salt and pepper
  • Fry until nice and brown on low heat
  • When chops are browned, take out and put in a sprayed casserole dish that has a lid
  • Keep enough of the oil and the bits left after browning for the roux
  • For the roux, add the flour to the hot oil keeping eye on low.
  • Add more pepper as needed
  • Stir until roux is a nice peanut butter brown color
  • Add milk a little at a time until gravy is the right consistency
  • Pour gravy over the pork chops
  • Bake at 325 degrees until they are tender.
  • Serve with rice, potatoes or egg noodles and a vegetable.
