Ingredients

How to make it

  • Mix together the salt, onion powder, pepper, garlic powder flour and nutritional yeast in a bowl.
  • In a separate bowl dilute mustard with ½ cup water
  • Add 1/3 cup of the flour mixture to the diluted mustard and whisk together.
  • Add baking powder to the dry flour mixture and combine
  • Dip chunks of the mock chicken into the mustard batter, then drop each chunk into the flour to coat with desired amount of flour mixture. Shake off excess flour.
  • Preheat vegetable oil in a large heavy skillet or deep fryer to 350 degrees.
  • Fry chunks in hot oil until crispy and golden brown turning as needed.
  • Remove from oil drain on paper towels
  • Serve with favorite dipping sauce or hot sauce

    I love Worthington Chic-kettes. I'll have to try this some time for my husband. (He's vegetarian, I'm not... Can cause some problems in meal planning, but I like a lot of the vegetarian foods out there...)

    Erisgrrl, I suppose you could use a tofu I don't have any recipes for a gluten mock-meat, using tofu. Now the invisiblechef's does "My Moms Recipe Gluten Chops Recipe" has a great recipe for Seitan or "wheat meat" is a protein rich food made from wheat gluten.
