How to make it

  • In a saucepan bring the water bring to a boil.
  • Add the rice, stir, and allow to boil together for 1 minute.
  • Turn off the heat, cover the saucepan, and let sit for 20 minutes. It’s done!
  • Fluff the rice and serve.
  • Note: some folks like to add a bit of salt, chicken bouillon, or butter into the water for flavor.

    It's regular rice, Hungry Diva. :) And yep, there's a *big* difference. Minute Rice, from what I understand, is rice that has been cooked, mushed up, then reformed into rice-shaped little pieces so that it re-constitutes quickly. It doesn't taste anything like real, regular rice. Converted Rice is *not* the same as Minute Rice, either - it's simply been precooked, I believe, and can be quite tasty and doesn't stick together at all. This recipe, however, is for good, plain old regular rice. :) California longgrain, Basmati, or Jasmine will work fine.

    Okay, may sound stupid, but is this with Minute Rice, or regular rice - or... is there really a difference?

    Yes indeed, the only way to cook rice. I like to add chicken or beef broth to mine.
