Ingredients
  • ½ kilo minced meat preferably pork or beef
  • salt, pepper and cinnamon
  • dried mint
  • 1 grated onion
  • Parsley
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 medium size potatoes
  • Olive oil for frying

Directions
  1. We grate the potatoes (this time we use the grater and not the multi and drain fluid from potatoes.
  2. We add the minced meat, the onion (grate it in the multi using one of the eggs) the salt, pepper, cinnamon, mint and finely chopped parsley and the remaining egg.
  3. We mix very well and if there is excess fluid add some dried bread crumbs. We leave mixture in refrigerator about ½ an hour or more. We shape them into small balls before frying. Fry them in hot olive oil until browned on all sides through the middle. Drain on paper towels and serve as is, without sauce.
  4. You can serve them with spaghetti, or fried potatoes and salad.
  5. Bon Appetite!

I really love keftedes and I make them often myself. I always use cinnamon and mint, but I never have the patience to grate the potatoes by hand. Unfortunately, you can't get that fluffy, chunky texture any other way.

Ah, I found an easy way to do it. I let my husband do it for me (lol). Well you can do it the Greek way. Instead of using potatoes, soak bread after removing crust. Then squeeze well to remove water. The Greek ones don't put mint and cinnamon but put oregano instead.

I've been looking for a recipe for Greek meatballs. This is exactly what I needed. Thank you!

These sound good. I'm always on the look-out for Greek recipes to serve my Greek friends.

Glad you liked the recipe.

now I have found a great one! Thanks for posting

Thank you very much and thanks for the rating as well.

What if I browned them under a broiler instead of frying?

Sorry for late reply. I have never broiled them so I cannot say for sure if the potato will cook inside. Merry Christmas.
