How to make it

  • Combine the ingredients in a heavy-bottomed pan.
  • Add a candy thermometer
  • Cook while stirring until the thermometer reaches 240*
  • Add 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts(optional) and pour into a buttered 9 x 13 pan.
  • Cool in refrigerator.
  • Cut the caramels with a serrated knife.
  • Wrap individual pieces in plastic and wrap and store in a plastic bat.
