Caramels

- 2 cups sugar shopping list
- 1 cup dark Karo syrup shopping list
- 1/2 lb. (2 cubes) real butter shopping list
- 1- 12-oz can Sego milk (evaportated milk) shopping list
- 1 cup pecans or walnuts(optional) shopping list
How to make it
- Combine the ingredients in a heavy-bottomed pan.
- Add a candy thermometer
- Cook while stirring until the thermometer reaches 240*
- Add 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts(optional) and pour into a buttered 9 x 13 pan.
- Cool in refrigerator.
- Cut the caramels with a serrated knife.
- Wrap individual pieces in plastic and wrap and store in a plastic bat.
