Ingredients
  • 2# round steak-trimed of fat -cut into 4 servings
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 2 Tbs. GREEN tobasco
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 cups-devided-flour
  • 2 tsp.paprika
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. each-salt & pepper
  • oil of your choise-I like peanut oil

Directions
  1. pound steaks to 1/4 inch thickness
  2. combine milk,salt and tobasco in a bowl
  3. measure 1 cup flour and put in a pie pan
  4. combine rest of flour with paprika,garlic powder,salt & pepper in anouther pan
  5. dip steaks in plain flour-milk mixture-then seasoned flour
  6. make sue all sides are well coated
  7. heat 1 to 2 inches of oil in a heavy frying pan.when oil is shevering well,fry steafs about 2-3 minutes a side, till golden brown-drain on paper towels
  8. serve with white/brown gravy,mashed potatoes and biscuits

Here in Mo. every resturant has it on their menu. They serve it with either(your choice)white or brown gravy.Very tasty.One of my favorite...chow

Chicken fried steak - heard of it, never ate it - couldn't imagine what it must be like. now, THANK YOU, Robert, i know - and am salivating. i normally eat steak rare, pure - but this is a MUST for me - dont have to wait for the bbq-season. and lovely gooey gravy to go along. mmmmm


This is my husband's favourite by far! We had our best somewhere on Route 66 a few years back. I do make white gravy because my grandmother came from Missouri and it is a recipe that has been handed down in our family. But I appreciate this recipe just to see the spices you put in it! It is a "must try" now for me! Thank you!
