This recipe is very easy and everyone loves toffee. prep time does not include cool down. Servings depends on how you break up the candy.

Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (or pecans)
  • 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips

Directions
  1. Grease a 9 x 9-inch cake pan.
  2. Spread the chopped walnuts evenly in the bottom of the pan.
  3. Over high heat, melt together sugar and butter in medium size saucepan until boiling.
  4. Lower heat to medium.
  5. Boil over medium heat for 7 minutes.
  6. Pour into pan.
  7. Sprinkle chocolate chips over hot mixture.
  8. Place a cookie sheet over the pan to retain the heat and melt the chocolate chips.
  9. Cut into large squares while hot, then refrigerate until hard.
  10. Break into pieces.
