This is one of my favorite soups ever. It's very easy to prepare on a weeknight. I served it with a garlic smeared baguette and top with shaved parmesan.

Have you tried adding any herbs to it? I've had trouble pairing asparagus with any aromatic besides garlic because asparagus has such an assertive flavor on its own, but I bet the milk would really soften it.
