Groovy 1970s Pizza Recipe

Ingredients

How to make it

  • Prepare pizza dough as directed on package and spread on a cookie sheet coated with cooking spray.
  • Sppon on pizza sauce (from kit) and spread around evenly.
  • Sprinkle with the little packet of Parmesan cheese.
  • Sprinkle with fennel seed to taste, if using.
  • Scatter sausage on top - you don't have to use all of it, but you can.
  • Top evenly with mozzarella.
  • Bake according to package directions.

    Sounds familiar...we used to make the Chef Boy-ar-dee pizza kits when we were first married (in the early 70s) and always put extra stuff on them. But I also remember my mom in the early 60s slicing up hot dogs on a frozen Chef Boy-ar-dee pizza and then slicing some sharp cheddar cheese over top (I don't think we had even heard of mozzarella then!) I thought it was the best thing I'd ever had!
