Eggnog Recipe
This is a very creamy eggnog. My husband prefers it to store bought.

Ingredients
  • 3 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 Tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 - 1/2 cup rum
  • 1-2 drops yellow food coloring
  • nutmeg

Directions
  1. Mix eggs, sugar and salt in a 2 quart saucepan.
  2. Stir in milk gradually with a metal spoon.
  3. Cook 15 - 20 minutes on medium heat. Stir constantly until soft custard just coats the back of the spoon.
  4. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
  5. Place pan in cold water to let custard cool. Beat mixture if it begins to curdle.
  6. Cover and refrigerate 1 - 2 hours. Can be served warm.
  7. Beat whipping cream, powdered sugar and vanilla in a chilled bowl until stiff.
  8. Add 1 cup whipped cream, rum and coloring to custard mixture.
  9. Drop remaining whipping cream mixture by mounds onto eggnog and sprinkle with nutmeg.

Sounds good!


Love eggnog but the thought of drinking raw eggs is not a favorite of mine, like your recipe since it is cooked some. Great post, will be making this one.
