Cocoa Brownies Dated 1952 Recipe
This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Parnell Estate in Canton, Texas in 1988. Tried and true. Another keeper.

Ingredients
  • 2/3 cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/3-cup cocoa
  • 1/2-teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2-teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs, unbeaten
  • 1-cup brown sugar
  • 1-teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/3-cup salad oil
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped nuts

Directions
  1. Sift together flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt.
  2. Set aside. In mixing bowl slightly beat the eggs.
  3. Gradually stir in sugar.
  4. Add vanilla and oil and mix well.
  5. Stir in flour-cocoa mixture.
  6. Add nuts.
  7. Spread in greased shallow square pan.
  8. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes.
  9. Cool in pan.
  10. Cut into squares.
