Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1/3 cup yellow mustard seed
  • 1/4 cup dry mustard
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 tbsp packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 1/4 tsp dill weed
  • 1/4 tsp tarragon leaves
  • 1 tbsp honey

Directions
  1. Combine water and mustard in medium bowl. Cover and let stand for 3 hours or until mixture thickens to a paste.
  2. combine next 10 ingredients in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil on med-high heat. reduce heat, simmer 10-15 minutes, stirring often, until reduced by half. Add to mustard mixture. Stir.
  3. Transfer to a blender or food processor. Puls until mustard is slightly thickened but grains are still visible. Pour into small saucepan. Heat on medium low for 10-15 minutes, stirring occassionally, until thickened. Remove from heat.
  4. add honey. stir well. cool. Transfer to a small bowl. Cover. Chill for 3 days. Spoon into a jar with a tight fitting lid.

This was so much fun! Unfortunately I gave it all away as presents but got to taste a good bit. I'll be making it again!


I lived a year in Germany and one thing I loved was the mustard! (boy do I miss those bratwurst stands!). WIll try this to see if it's similar!!


I do like mustards; this is a keeper.
