Cherry Chocolate Kiss Cookies

These are a pretty cookie. the cherry chocolate flavor is always popular at my house.. I make them every Christmas, but they are good anytime.. I got the recipe from a Pillsbury Holiday pamphlet.
Ingredients
- 1 cup powdered sugar shopping list
- 1 cup butter shopping list
- 2 teasp. maraschino cherry juice shopping list
- 1/2 teasp. almond extract shopping list
- few drops red food coloring shopping list
- 2 1/4 cups flour shopping list
- 1/2 teasp salt shopping list
- 1/2 cup maraschino cherries, drained and chopped shopping list
- approx 48 extra large chocolate chips or 48 chocolate kisses** shopping list
- depending on which you choose: one is semi-sweet and the other is milk chocolate. This will give you 2 different tastes... shopping list
How to make it
- combine sugar, butter, cherry juice, almond extract, and the food coloring. blend well
- lightly spoon flour into measuring cup. mix in the salt
- mix flour mixture with the butter mixture
- add cherries
- shape into 1'' balls. place 2'' apart on a lightly greased cookie sheet
- bake at 350' for 8-10 mins
- immediately after baking top each cookie with a kiss. press down firmly.. remove from cookie sheets
