Carmamel Pecan Squares Recipe

These are so good.. They're a cross between a cookie and a candy... but are very easy to make.. a thing that I don't do very often since I can't leave them alone! I got the recipe from a pamphlet called Fall Baking by Pillsbury

Ingredients
- 1 Pillsbury Plus Yellow cake mix
- 1/4 cup butter
- 4 cups pecan halves ( I use a little more)
- 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup whipping cream
- optional: bag of either milk chocolate or semi-sweet chips
Directions
- place cake mix in a large bowl. using a pastry blender cut in 1/4 cup butter until the mixture resembles course crumbs
- press into an ungreased 15 x 10'' jelly roll pan
- top with the pecans. gently press into the dough
- in a heavy pan combine brown sugar, sugar, 1 cup butter, and honey
- bring to a full boil over medium heat stirring constantly
- boil 3 mins. remove from heat
- stir in cream until well blended
- pour filling over pecans.. ( the nuts will move around )
- bake 350' 17-22 mins or until the entire surface is bubbly
- optional if you are going to put the chocolate chips on wait until it sets up a little then drop on and swirl around
- cool completely then cut
