Ingredients
  • 4# lean beef-cubed
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1 tsp. each fresh ground black pepper and thyme
  • 8 slices of bacon-diced
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 3 cloves garlic-crushed
  • 1 medium onion-diced
  • 1# mushrooms-sliced
  • 1/3 cup flour

Directions
  1. marinate beef in wine,oil,thyme and pepper 4 hours at room tempature or over night in the fridge(best)
  2. in a large skillet , cook bacon till soft,add garlic and onions , sauteeing till soft, add mushrooms and cook till slightly wilted
  3. drain beef,reserving marinade,
  4. place beef in crockpot, sprinkle with flour,stirring to coat well
  5. add mushroom mixture on top, pour marinade liquid over all and cover
  6. cook on low for 8-9 hours

The best part is after shoveling snow for a few hours,it's nice to come inside and smell the aroma,yum!yum!


Yum! I make one just like this, and you're right, the smell does kind of make you weak at the knees. Have also used pepperoni in place of the bacon - gives it a nice little zing.
