How to make it

  • over medium low heat sweat onions and garlic in a small amount of the butter
  • add tomatoes breaking up the whole ones with your fingers (I leave them nice and chunky)
  • add wine and bay leaves
  • simmer at least an hour over medium heat, stirring often.
  • When your sauce has thickened to desired consistency add sugar, salt, rosemary, marjoram and the rest of your butter, cook 5 more minutes.
  • Dont forget to find the bay leaves and yank them out.
  • Serve with spaghetti, rigatoni, add ground beef-anything you want, this sauce is super versatile.
