From cakelady 17 years agoIngredients
- 1 C milk shopping list
- 4 TBSP all purpose flour shopping list
- 3/4 C butter (room temp) shopping list
- 1 C sugar shopping list
- 1 tsp vanilla shopping list
- 1 TBSP finely grated lemon zest (optional) shopping list
How to make it
- This is definitely a French recipe, as it starts off with a classic roux.
- Mix flour and milk in a small sauce pan with a wisk, until smooth.
- Cook over medium heat, until it forms a paste (roux).
- Don't let it brown.
- Stir it a lot to prevent it from sticking.
- Remove from heat.
- Let this cool for about 7 minutes, until its just mildly warm.
- In your mixing bowl, beat sugar and butter until fluffy.
- Add the cooled flour mixture to the sugar mixture.
- Beat on HIGH speed, as you want to incorporate air into this.
- Beat for 10 minutes, until the sugar crystals are completely dissolved.
- Add vanilla and mix.
- Fold in lemon zest if you are using it.
- Keep it refigerated if you don't plan to eat it quickly.
