Moms Non-muddy Mississippi Iced Tea Recipe

Moms Non-Muddy Mississippi Iced Tea Recipe
This is my Mom's Iced tea recipe. I play with it all of the time...adding one bag of ginger or Constant Comment or Lemon Zinger. My Mom's version is never "muddy" mine, however frequently is.

Ingredients
  • 2 Pans
  • Water
  • 3 Family size tea bags (your brand preference)
  • 3/4 cups sugar

Directions
  1. Fill pan almost 3/4 to the top with water and bring to a boil.
  2. Turn heat off and add tea bags - brand of your choice. I use Lipton and anything else I have in the pantry.
  3. This can steep until you're happy with the color. I usually forget about it until I wander back into the kitchen a few hours later.
  4. Bring another small pan of water (1/4 to fill the "tea" pan) to a boil and add sugar. (I always cheat and add less sugar).
  5. Boil sugar water for 3 - 4 minutes until clear.
  6. Add sugar water to tea pan and stir.
  7. Sit until completely cool. Not you, the tea...then put the tea in the fridge.
  8. P.S. The Sugar water should be added while the tea is still hot. I've done it both ways and everyone still drank it.

Nice

Ditto what she said......nice!

Someone posted a tea recipe a few months ago and said to let it steep for a good while. Someone pounced on her and said that was nasty that you are only supposed to let it steep for 5 minutes. I am like you and forget about it until I wander back in the kitchen sometimes hours later, it is always pretty darn good.Never any complaints from my guys. LOL Tis recipe sounds perfect to me!

Love it! :)

Nothing like some good tea and company. When school starts they have something called "Tea & Sympathy" for the first timers. This would be good. Thanks for stopping by and commenting on the tilapia. I never really used to like fish until I tried it that way. I like extra lemon squeezed on it. You're sweet and I'm glad your family enjoyed it. Have a bright & sunny weekend! Jett

I've read that a bit of baking soda keeps the tea from getting cloudy. I haven't tried it yet... I'll let you know! Thanks for the recipe! RML
