Grandma Coreys Goulash Recipe

Grandma Coreys Goulash Recipe
My Grandmother made this for me when I was a little girl. That was back in the 1960's. We did not move back to her area until 1961. So I am sure she was making this her whole life, and if my math is right she was born in 1903.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound of hamburger
  • 1 large onion, cut into large chunks
  • 1 box macaroni
  • water
  • salt
  • pepper

Directions
  1. Cook the hamburger and the onion until the onion is translucent and the meat is cooked. She cooked it in big chunks.
  2. While this is cooking she cooked the macaroni with 1 teaspoon salt until it was over done. They got big and soft.
  3. After everything was cooked she would drain a little of the water off, not all of it, then she added the meat onion mixture, fat and all.
  4. Season it with salt and pepper. She was done. This was so good, until I was old enough to watch her, I make it my way now.

  7. Cook the beef and onions together until done, make sure the onions are medium diced. You could also use ground turkey if you prefer.
  8. Cook the noodles until they are almost done, we like a firm noodle.
  9. Drain the noodles and the meat mixture.
  10. Place back into the pan.
  11. Add a can of beef broth.
  12. Season to taste, italian seasoning, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder... your choice.
