Ingredients

How to make it

  • Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs and beat well.
  • Add vanilla and orange flavorings.
  • Sift dry ingredients together 3 times.
  • Add dry ingredients to cream mixture alternately with buttermilk.
  • Spoon into greased loaf pan and bake 300 degrees for about 60 minutes.

    Was just looking for something to 'use up' some buttermilk in - came across this, and it sounds great for the Monday holiday. Haven't made a buttermilk pound cake in years, so it's past time! Love the addition of the orange extract....thanks a bunch!
