Nuts & Bolts -- now they call it Chex Party Mix. This is my mom's recipe that she's tweaked to our liking and I have since added my own flair to it. We especially enjoy this at family reunions and holidays.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter
  • 2 tablespoons seasoned salt (not regular salt)
  • 1/4 - 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 cups Cheerios
  • 4 cups Corn Chex
  • 4 cups Rice Chex
  • 4 cups Wheat Chex
  • 2 cups cashew or mixed nuts
  • 2 cups oriental noodles, pretzels, Kix or garlic bagel chips

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F.
  2. Melt butter in large baking dish (12 x 17-inch or so) in oven.
  3. Stir salt and sauce into melted butter.
  4. Add cereals and nuts. Mix well.
  5. Bake at 250 degrees F for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
  6. Put on absorbent paper to cool before storing in airtight container.
  7. You may use any combination of the dry ingredients to your own liking; just keep the same ratio of dry ingredients to liquid.
  8. Usually I increase the Rice Chex to 8 cups and reduce the Wheat and Corn Chex to 2 cups each. The garlic bagel chips are a nice addition, too. Play with ingredients to find your favorite combination.

Hi edensong. finally a recipe where i can use up all my cheerios! went to see dolly parton the other night and decided to come to nashville very soon. we think you people down there must be loads of fun to be with.

So you're in the country right now? Yes, Nashvillians can be lots of fun. :) Hope you enjoy the Nuts & Bolts.

Sounds great and easy!!!! Different then the one I've used before, think I'm trying this one :)

This is very similar to my party mix recipe. I got it from my aunt many years ago. I change it every time to suit my mood. Thanks for sharing this.

This looks fun! I used dry, ranch dressing. Yummy.

Bonne, that sounds like a great idea. Must give that a try.

Ahhh! Another healthy snack to add to my " Rugrat's Favorites ". Thanks so much!

I like that this only takes 15 minutes.
Easy party food is always a good idea.

For Kids:

I am going to my Mother-In-Law's for a birthday party and there are a lot of younger children in the family even though my own are grown. Anyway, I am going to use this recipe but am omitting Worcestershire sauce.

I plan to coat the pretzels in White Chocolate and mix in some plain but colorful M&M's. Now when I have my next adult party, I will make it identical to what you shared here. Thanks for sharing!
