Simple And Easy Foil Surprise Recipe
Old popular recipe. Beef patties topped with carrots, potatoes onions, wrapped in foil, topped with butter and baked for 1 hour. They are quite delicious.

Ingredients
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 6 medium potatoes
  • 6 carrots
  • 3 medium onions
  • 6- 12 inch squares of aluminum foil
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • Salt and pepper

Directions
  1. Season 6 large beef patties with salt and pepper
  2. Place on foil
  3. On each pattie, place a layer of raw carrots, a layer of raw potatoes, and a layer of raw onions
  4. Put a pat of butter on top
  5. Seal foil and place on cookie sheet or in pan
  6. Bake at 400 degrees for 1 hour
  7. You may season everything as you like

Can you also do this on the grill? If so,what are the inst.? Thanks Nancy


Nancy, I have never cooked these on the grill, but I don't know why you couldn't. I think putting the packets on the grill, leaving a little opening in the foil on the top would be fine. However, I would use heavy duty aluminum foil.
