Giorgios Tuscan Lasagna

- *Lasagna Ingredients* shopping list
- 1 lb ground sausage (Jimmy Dean will do) shopping list
- 1 lb ground beef shopping list
- 1 lb ground pork shopping list
- 1 lg white onion shopping list
- 1 cup carrots shopping list
- 4 stalks celery shopping list
- 4 garlic cloves - pressed shopping list
- 1 sm can Contadina tomato paste shopping list
- 1 cube chicken Boullion shopping list
- 1 cube beef Boullion shopping list
- 1 can chicken broth shopping list
- 1/2 cup red wine shopping list
- olive oil shopping list
- 2 cups cheese - shredded parmigiano & Mozzarella mix shopping list
- 2 cups cheese - shredded Mozzarella shopping list
- Pre-cooked Lasagna pasta shopping list
- cooking spray shopping list
- *Bechamelle Sauce* shopping list
- 1.5 sticks butter shopping list
- 1 qt milk shopping list
- Wondra Flour shopping list
- salt/pepper to taste shopping list
How to make it
- If pre-cooked lasagna noodles are used, no further preparation is necessary for the pasta.
- *Bechamelle Sauce*
- in a sauce pan, melt butter completely.
- add flour until all the butter has been absorbed (approx 6 Tbs).
- add milk SLOWLY until a smooth sauce is formed (important - not too thick).
- keep stiring all the time. set aside for later.
- *Meat Sauce*
- chop onion, garlic, celery and carrots. in a large pan, saute with olive oil until soft and golden.
- add meats and saute until well cooked
- add red wine and reduce.
- add tomato paste - mix well.
- add chicken broth and boullion cubes. bring to a boil. if not enough liquid, add water and cover.
- simmer atleast ONE hour until the broth has reduced. set aside.
- *Construct the Lasagna*
- spray large baking dish with cooking spray ("Pam").
- (A) layer pasta to cover the bottom
- (B) add a layer of meat sauce
- (C) add a layer of Bechamelle
- (D) add a layer of cheese(s)
- repeat layers, finishing with cheese & Bechamelle on top
- cover with foil and bake for 1hr at 375 deg.
- remove foil and brown the top layer under the broiler.
- let rest for atleast 10min. serve!

Outstanding! I've been looking for a good Tuscan lasagna recipe since losing my tried and true one. We lived in Tuscany for a while and my son loved our landlady's lasagna and begs me to make it. He won't touch the ricotta kind. I made this one day ...more
