Bread And Butter Pickles

- 4 quarts pickling cucumbers peeled and thinly sliced shopping list
- 8 medium sweet onions peeled and thinly sliced shopping list
- 1/2 cup pickling salt shopping list
- 5 cups granulated sugar shopping list
- 1-1/2 teaspoons turmeric shopping list
- 1 teaspoon celery seeds shopping list
- 2 tablespoons mustard seed shopping list
- 5 cups apple cider vinegar shopping list
How to make it
- In large bowl mix cucumbers, onions and salt.
- Cover with crushed ice and allow to stand covered with a weighted lid for 3 hours.
- Drain completely.
- Place cucumber mixture in a large canning pot.
- Add sugar, spices and vinegar and bring almost to a boil stirring constantly with wooden spoon.
- Pack pickles into hot jars and seal.
