How to make it

  • Heat oil to 375.
  • Place buttermilk in bowl and set aside. Mix flour, salt, pepper, and baking powder in separate bowl.
  • Coat mushrooms with flour mixture, dip mushrooms in buttermilk, and finally re-coat mushrooms with flour mixture again.
  • Place mushrooms in hot oil, be careful not to crowd.
  • When mushrooms turn golden brown remove and drain on a paper towel-add more seasoning to your taste.
  • Fried mushrooms should be served immediately for the best taste!

    Yeah, mushrooms from the restaurants are good, but these sound much better! Thanks! When they make them in restaurants they are fried frozen, and end up watery, and sometimes cold iside, I will be trying these soon! Who cares about the mess, when I cook I always manage to make a tornado go through anyways!

    I love deep fried mushrooms but am usually disappointed when I order them at the restaurants..I imagine they would be much better homemade. thanx for the post!
