Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 lb lean Ground Beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 package Spaghetti Sauce Seasoning Mix
  • 1 large stick pepperoni, sliced
  • 1 can sliced mushrooms
  • 1 1/2 cups favorite pasta
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 6 oz mozzarella, grated
  • 6 oz cheddar cheese, grated
  • Note: sometimes I use different types of pasta together like shells, penne, wheels, if I have them on hand. The kids love finding the different shapes!

Directions
  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef with the onion and green pepper.
  3. Drain
  4. Add spaghetti seasoning mix to browned meat and blend.
  5. Add pepperoni and mushrooms and blend again
  6. Meanwhile, prepare the pasta as directed on the package and drain
  7. Combine pasta with ground beef mixture in a 9x13 baking dish
  8. Add tomato sauce and water, stir to combine
  9. Add most of the cheeses and stir again
  10. Sprinkle the remaining cheeses over the top of casserole
  11. Bake for 30 minutes, uncovered
  12. Sprinkle parmesan cheese before serving if desired

My mom used to make something like this when I was kid. Pizza Hut had started serving Cavatini and she made up her own recipe at home, after we ate it there. So, this brings back a lot of sweet memories of those days. Wagon wheel pasta was new to me and I thought it was so cool. Thank you so much for the recipe (and the smiles). I'll be making this soon...
