How to make it

  • in large mixer bowl blend all ingredients
  • beat at med speed for 2 mins
  • generously grease baking pan
  • bake in a 350' F oven for:
  • ..........................................
  • 1 10 inch tube pan or fluted pan............50 - 60 mins
  • 2 8 inch round layer pans.......................38 - 43 mins
  • 2 9 inch round layer pans.......................33 - 38 mins
  • 1 9 x 13 inch oblong pan.........................40 - 45 mins
  • ...........................................
  • cool tube pan cake 25 mins then remove from pan
  • cool all others for 15 - 20 mins then remove from pan
  • finish cooling on a wire rack.

    This is a very good pound cake. I made it and then mixed 1 cup powdered sugar, I tablespoon melted butter and 1/4 c. lemon juice. Once you invert it onto serving plate, while still warm, poke a few little holes in top and pour glaze over. It soaks in and yummy!!

    Sounds great, now for a good lemon icing :) The hospital use to have something like this in the cafeteria - served as a lemon layer cake. Great post. Try putting my microwave Lemon Curd between the layers if you try it as a layer cake. Yum.
