I did my own take on these "Spicy Lo Mein Noodles." I subbed cayenne (sriracha sauce) and olive oil (peanut oil). I also reduced the soy sauce to 1/4 cup since I use a high-quality organic Japanese soy sauce. My version lacked body, so I added some Chinese cooking wine to remedy the issue. I also added some marinated and velveted stir-fried beef, onions (instead of chives), snow peas, yellow bell pepper, and water chestnuts. Overall, it was good and I would make it or a similar recipe again since my husband quite likes it and it is a "fast and easy" meal. Next time I will definitely add ginger. Thank you YoMomma for sharing your recipe and LindaLMT for the inspiration to make this recipe.

Delicious! and I love that it uses basic ingredients. This would be ideal with the optional add ins such as various veggies and/or proteins. I highly recommend using light soy sauce, I only had regular and even watered down a bit was till a bit too salty.

This recipe was fantastic. I have been cooking a very long time and have never found an Asian recipe that I like. I didn't change a thing. I will definitely be making this again. The peanut butter gave it an amazing depth of flavor, and the soy was the perfect level of saltyness.

OMG!!! I made this again but I added bean sprouts, yellow onion, green onion and chicken!!! It was absolutely perfect! I can actually say that it was BETTER than the one I get from my favorite Chinese restaurant because it had only the veggies we like and it had a little spiciness from the cayenne pepper!

    You ROCK Yomomma!!!

I also made this after Mommyluvs2cook mentioned it in the 'I Made It' group! This was very good! I made it as written, plain...but I think it would also be delicious with the veggies and maybe some chicken sauteed in the soy sauce mixture! This has a nice light flavor! I agree with dione73...don't omit the sesame oil! And don't omit the toasted sesame seeds either...they are perfect in this dish! I added my photo also!

Thanks dione73 for the comments..yes, this dish is a great base for lots of yummy ingredients...I too use the low sodium soy sauce....and I will 'stretch' the sauce with a little of the pasta water. I have been thinking about making this with spirals or penne for a summer type pasta salad.
    Enjoy...

Oh and for anyone thinking of making this but omitting the sesame oil DONT! It makes this dish.

I saw this recipe on "I Made It" yesturday and decided to make them today. Very good! I did use a 12oz box of whole-wheat spaghetti (they don't make it in the pound and it looked like they dont make it in linguine either). I also used 1/2c of a recipe to make my own soy sauce which has veritually no sodium and 1/4c low-sodium. One more thing, instead of 3-4T olive oil and 1T sesame oil I used 1t each. Added a ton of veggies and it was delicious!! This is a keeper! Thanks for the recipe. :)

Thanks so much for the picture..it is beautiful..yes, these noodles are so versatile and you can make it as spicy as you like with the cayenne pepper, it's a great 'starter' dish that goes with just about any meat or fish, and veggies. It is good warm or cold, and makes a great dish to take to an event.
    Thanks again,

These were some fantastic noodles!!! Exactly what I was looking for! I served a beef and veggie stir fry on top of them! The only change I made was to use ww spaghetti noodles. Thanks so much!!! Hope you like the pic. I added! My IMI review Spicy Lo Mein Noodles

Hi, yes, the peanut butter does seems odd, but it makes for a nice rich sauce and you don't 'really' taste the peanut butter...it's interesting, try it, you will be surprised.

There is something very soothing about noodles, and of course pasta-- I think it gets the endorphins flowing!!

You can make this without the peanut butter if you are allergic, I have not, I would substitute more soy and perhaps experiment with other Asian sauces to get the flavor. I think the spicy-ness of it makes it so good.

    Hi,
Lo Mein noodles and I have been having a very long affair. I have to confess, I am a bit of a noodle slut. I just can't seem to get enough lo mein. I'm bad. High *5*, thanks,
