Ingredients
  • 1/2 C. butter or margarine (1 stick)
  • 1 C. finely chopped onion
  • 1 C. finely chopped celery
  • 1/4 C. minced parsley
  • 1 1/2 to 2 tsp. poultry seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp.salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 6 C. crumbled cornbread
  • 2 eggs well beaten
  • 1 1/2 C. chicken broth

Directions
  1. Melt butter in skillet.
  2. Add onion and celery and sautee until tender.
  3. Put crumbled corn bread into a large bowl.
  4. Combine seasonings and sprinkle over cornbread.
  5. Add eggs,broth and onion mixture.If you like a moist dressing more broth may be used.
  6. Spoon mixture into crock pot,cover and set on high for 1 hour then reduce heat to low and cook for 2 hours.

I've tried several dressing recipes, but the directions were wrong. I'm so glad I tried yours - we loved it! I told my husband I trusted you.


This is great! More room in the oven at Thanksgiving. Will definately try this one.


Can this be doubled or tripled with sucess? I have
grown boys and they all want to take home some and so I make alot. The recipe sounds like the one I make in the oven, but having a free oven will be wonderful. Also, does it hold it's shape when served, or is it crumbly dry? Thanks for helping me out.
