How to make it

  • In a medium bowl, mix the butter and flour as in pastry
  • Add chopped pecans to this mixture
  • Press the above in a 9 X 13" dish or pan
  • Bake at 350 degrees for about 20-30 minutes until lightly browned
  • Let cool
  • In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, mix cream cheese and powdered sugar, slowly
  • Fold in whipped cream or (okay, Cool Whip)
  • Spread on top of cooled crust
  • At this time you may spread the cherry pie filling over all OR
  • you may refrigerate and *spread when ready to serve*
  • *NOTE: When I use *fresh* strawberries, peaches, blueberries, etc.
  • I cut the dessert into squares and drizzle the sweetened fruit over the square. For a "strawberry, peach melba", I drizzle the square with sweetened strawberries, then drizzle peaches over the strawberries! Now this is good, good!
