Ingredients

How to make it

  • In bowl, with mixer, cream softened butter and sugar
  • Add eggs, blend only (do not beat hard)
  • Add cocoa, flour and vanilla
  • Blend well
  • Stir in pecans by hand
  • Pour into a *greased* 9 X 13 baking dish
  • Bake at *300 degrees* for about 45 to 55 minutes (don't overcook)
  • Cool *5 minutes*
  • Pat *gently* the sides of cake down evenly with the middle
  • ICING
  • In bowl, whisk powdered sugar and cocoa together to blend
  • Add coffee, blend, then butter
  • Spread on cake in pan
  • Let cool at least 4 hours, if you can stand it, before serving
  • If not, the sky will not fall, and you can cut a square to taste :)
