Ingredients

How to make it

  • In a mixing bowl, sprinkle yeast over warm water.
  • Heat milk, 1/4 cup of the sugar, butter and salt to 110F; add to the yeast mixture with 1-1/2 cups of the flour, egg and raisins. Beat for 3 minutes; stir in 1 cup more flour.
  • Turn out on a floured board; knead for 5 minutes.
  • Place in a greased bowl; cover and let rise until doubled, approximately 1 hour.
  • Punch down the dough; roll out into a 9 by 18 inch rectangle. Mix remaining 1/4 cup sugar with the cinnamon; sprinkle over dough. Starting at narrow end, tightly roll up. Place in a greased 9 by 5 inch loaf pan. Cover and let rise until doubled, approximately 1 hour.
  • Bake in a 350F oven for 40 to 45 minutes.
  • Makes 1 loaf.

I have a bread machine but still love to make bread the old-fashioned way, 'With my hands' I use the machine maybe once a month, and I am making bread all the time. I just love the flavor and aroma of fresh homemade bread, which is better than store bought. Sweetie you have my 5. Have a good night.....Cheryl

This was a lot easier to make than I thought it would be and it was delicious! Thanks for sharing, and for the nice comment about my salmon club sandwich recipe.
