How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 450 .
  • In a pan, lightly cook bacon, making sure it does not become crisp.
  • Wrap each water chestnut with half a slice of bacon.
  • Hold in place with a toothpick.
  • Place in baking dish in a single layer and bake for 10 minutes at 450 F.
  • Mix brown sugar, ketchup and soy sauce together.
  • Pour sauce mixture over cooked bacon and chestnuts.

    My mom used to make something like this but it would have a piece of chicken liver with the water chestnut and bacon. A crunchy rumaki! One of our favorite appetizers ever! Great post.

    Okay, I agree, this does sound like an odd combination; however, I LOVE bacon and I LOVE water chestnuts. And anything tastes better with soy sauce. I'm going to trust you and give this one a try! :)
