Southern As Can Be Collards Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 bunch collard greens - rinsed, trimmed and chopped
  • pack of country ham pieces or 2 ham hocks
  • 2 (10.5 ounce) cans condensed chicken broth
  • 12oz beer
  • 12oz water
  • 1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar
  • red pepper flakes to taste
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions
  1. Place the collard greens and ham pieces in a large pot.
  2. Mix in the chicken broth, beer, water, and vinegar.
  3. Season with red pepper flakes, salt and pepper.
  4. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and simmer 1 hour.
  5. Sprinkle with apple cider vinegar or dill pickle juice
