Black And White Cookies

- For cookies shopping list
- 1 1/4 cup AP flour shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1/3 cup buttermilk, well shaken shopping list
- 1/2 tsp vanilla shopping list
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter shopping list
- 1/2 sugar shopping list
- 1 large egg shopping list
- For icings shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar shopping list
- 1 tbls. corn syrup shopping list
- 1 tsp. lemon juice shopping list
- 1/4 tsp. vanilla shopping list
- 2 tbls. water shopping list
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder shopping list
How to make it
- For cookies
- Preheat oven to 350 and set rack to middle of oven
- Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside
- In another bowl, stir together buttermilk and vanilla. Set aside
- Beat together butter and sugar until light and fluffy
- Add egg to sugar mixture and beat until combined well
- Mix in flour mixture and buttermilk mixture alternately in small batches on low speed Beginning and ending with flour mixture
- Mix until smooth
- Spoon 1/4 cups of batter about 2 inches apart onto a large greased baking sheet
- Bake until tops are puffed and golden brown and cookie springs back when touched, about 15-17 minutes
- Cool on cooling racks
- For icings
- Add all ingredients but 1 tbls. water and cocoa powder and mix thoroughly
- Place 1/2 of the icing in a small bowl
- Add cocoa powder and water to one of the icings and mix thoroughly
- Turn cooled cookies flat side up and ice half white icing and half chocolate icing
