How to make it

  • Rub a large (pref wooden) salad bowl with the garlic clove's cut side
  • Wash lettuce, dry well and tear into pieces into the bowl
  • In a separate, small bowl, mash or chop anchovy
  • Add lemon juice, Worcestershire, tabasco, wine vinegar, egg, olive oil, and mustard.
  • Whisk well, pour on lettuce and toss
  • Add cheese and croutons and toss again
  • Serve immediately
  • It's fun to do this at the table, tossing after each addition to the salad. Also, make sure the egg is fresh and has no crack where bacteria could get in. If you want, boil it for 1-2 minutes to be safe.
