Kifta

- 1 cup olive oil for frying shopping list
- 1 large potato, thinly sliced shopping list
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef, thawed shopping list
- 1/2 white onion, diced shopping list
- 1/2 white onion, sliced shopping list
- 3 cloves garlic, minced shopping list
- 1/2 bunch of fresh parsley, chopped shopping list
- 1 1/2 teaspoons all spice shopping list
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt shopping list
- 1 1/2 teaspoons black pepper shopping list
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground nutmeg shopping list
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cumin shopping list
- 1 large tomato, thinly sliced shopping list
- 1/4 cup lemon juice shopping list
- 1/2 cup olive oil shopping list
- 2 cups long grain white rice shopping list
- 4 cups water shopping list
- * You may subsitute your favorite Arabic spice mix for spices listed above shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)
- Heat oil in skillet on medium-high heat
- Once hot, fry potato slices until just golden then remove and set aside on paper towel
- In medium bowl, mix together the beef, diced onion, garlic, fresh parsley, spices, lemon juice and 1/2 cup of olive oil
- Press mix flat into 7x11 or medium sized baking dish
- Place potato slices over meat, then tomato slices over potatoes and top with the sliced onion
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes, remove the aluminum foil and bake another 15 minutes
- While Kifta is cooking, cook rice until tender
- Cut Kifta into squares and serve over a bed of rice rice
