Chinese 5 Spice powder is often an ingredient in many chinese dishes. I was making a dish the other day and had no 5SP in my pantry, so I found a homemade version in my good ol' Better Homes and Gardens cook book. Read more It tasted great in the recipe and I have plenty for future use.5 See less
Ingredients
- 3 Tbsp cinnamon, ground shopping list
- 6 star anise or 2 tsp anise seed shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp fennel seed shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp Sechuan pepper or whole black pepper corns shopping list
- 3/4 tsp ground cloves shopping list
How to make it
- Combine all ingredients in a blender. I find a small grinder works better than a blender, but I still prefer to use a mortar and pestal. Blend and pulse until reduced to a fine powder.. Store covered tightly in a cool dark place for up to 6 months.
- Makes 1/3 cup.
