Zaatar Appetizer

Lebanese Zaatar is a spice combination of Thyme, Sumac and Toasted Sesame Seeds. In Syria Hyssop (Syrian Oregano) Replaces the Thyme. It is a staple in a Lebanese household. In it's simplest form. Dip pita in oilive oil then in Zaatar and eat. Read more It makes a great impromtu appetizer if someone stops by. Zaatar mixed with Olive Oil and baked on flatbread (I will post recipe soon) is well known in Mediterranean cuisine. I will post a recipe for Zaatar but it is readily available on the internet and local specialty stores. See less
Ingredients
- 1 cup chopped tomatoes shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped scallion shopping list
- 3 Tbls olive oil shopping list
- 3 Tbls Zaatar shopping list
- 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese shopping list
How to make it
- Combine well and eat in bites with arabic bread.

It may sound simple Jim but I bet the taste is tops. Some of these flavors are among my favorites, I just didn't know to combine them. We often eat pita, feta, and cilantro. I am anxious to try this. You have my 5 for simplicity and flavor. Thank-you...more
