I love this. I have done this with a pound cake sliced in thirds length wise and spread the Mascarpone cream then add fresh fruits and continue layering till top and then spread cream and finish with fruit. Was a hit at my Bridge Club. Thanks for the reminder. Welcome to the foodie! Got my 5.

This sounds fantasic and easy...love the idea with the pound cake, too! I have found that using the imported mascarpone is much tastier than the domestic one. Price difference is about $2 but seems well worth it if you are going to have it stand alone, as in your martini glasses.
How far ahead can these be made?

Rdh14, I've served this two days after being made, keeps well. To tell the truth I personally haven't tried any imported mascarpone, it probably does taste nicer. J.
