How to make it

  • In a 12 by 16 baking pan brushed with melted butter layer 8 sheets of dough overlapping to cover bottom of pan, buttering each sheet as you go.
  • Mix walnuts , sugar and spices
  • spread one third of nut mixture over dough
  • repeat with second set of eight sheets of dough
  • again spread one third of nut mixture over dough
  • repeat steps one and two a third time
  • cover with remaining sixteen sheets
  • score diagonally in 1 1/2 inch diamonds
  • brush with remaining butter
  • bake in a 350 degree oven one hour
  • While baklava is baking make syrup
  • Brink all ingredients to a boil and boil for 10 minutes.
  • strain syrup
  • Remove baklava from oven and cool slightly
  • pour warm syrup over baklava
  • cool completely
  • cut into diamonds and enjoy enjoy enjoy

    Hi River.My husband loves this recipe,though I have never tried Baklava...and I have always been a little intimidated to make it.But your recipe sounds easy enough-will add it to my collection and will give it a shot.
