Ingredients

How to make it

  • Combine first 10 ingredients in a large re-sealable baggie and mix well.
  • Add Tilapia fillets one at a time to the bag and coat well - remove and let them sit for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  • Slice the lemon into wedges.
  • Heat up a frying pan over med high heat.
  • Pour oil into the frying pan when the oil is so hot it's almost smoking add Tilapia fillets.
  • Fry the Tilapia fillets until the fillets look opaque and can be easily flaked with a fork - about 3 minutes per side.
  • Remove fillets to plates, add a lemon wedge and serve immediately.

    I made this last night for dinner, and my husband LOVED it--he was still talking about it this morning! I served it with brown rice and black beans, and used lime wedges instead of lemon (limes are cheaper, haha!). Thanks for posting this recipe--it's awesome!

    This is the same way I was taught when I attended a cooking lesson by the master of Blackened fish Chef Paul, he used hie owns spices Cajun Magic,at that time, which are nearly the same as yours.

    I love blackened Redfish and chicken. I also love Tilapia although I have never blackened it. I think it would be a perfect fish to blacken and I can't wait to try it. Thanks.
