Pepper Steak With Rice

- 1 1/2 lbs sirloin or flank steak shopping list
- 1/2 cup veg oil shopping list
- 2 large green bell peppers shopping list
- 1 large white onion shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/4 tsp black pepper (or 1/8 tap white pepper) shopping list
- 3 Tbsp all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1 cup water (hot, but not boiling) shopping list
- 3 Tbsp soy sauce shopping list
- 2 cups cooked rice shopping list
How to make it
- Slice the beef, green peppers and onions into thin strips, approx. all the same size
- In a large frying pan with lid, heat the oil and cook the beef strips, uncovered, until browned
- Pour out most of the oil and add vegetables.
- Cook on low heat while mixing the water, flour, salt, pepper and soy sauce in a separate bowl (use a whisk to avoid lumps)
- Mix until smooth and pour into frying pan.
- Stir with wooden spoon to evenly distribute beef, vegs and sauce
- Cover and simmer on low heat for 35 minutes or until sauce thickens and vegs are cooked to tenderness
- Serve over cooked rice
