- 1/2 cup vermicelli, broken into very small pieces shopping list
- 2 Tbsp butter shopping list
- 1 cup white rice, rinsed very well in cold water before cooking shopping list

- 2 tsp salt shopping list
How to make it
- Heat butter in the pan you will cook the rice in
- When butter is sizzling add the vermicelli and fry until dark golden brown (stir continuously so it won't stick)
- Turn down the heat, pour in the rinsed rice (it's going to splatter a bit, so take care!) and add cold water to 1/2 inch above the top of the rice
- Add salt and stir to mix rice and vermicelli
- Turn up the heat, bring to a bowl, then turn down to a low simmer
- Cover and cook for 14 minutes

Sounds good to me. Will use broth in place of water and throw in garlic (natch). I love rice and pasta with garlic! Thank you.
