Chocolate Satin Velvet Robe Cake

- CAKE* shopping list
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda shopping list
- 1 2/3 cups cold water shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter shopping list
- 1 3/4 cups sugar shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla shopping list
- 1/2 cup cocoa shopping list
- 2 1/2 cups sifted all purpose flour shopping list
- 3 egg whites shopping list
- cocoa FROSTING* shopping list
- 1/4 cup butter shopping list
- 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar shopping list
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla shopping list
- 1/2 cup cocoa shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/3 cup milk shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
- 2 - 9 inch layer pans or one 9 X 13 inch pan
- Grease & instead of flour, use cocoa!
- Line with wax paper
- Combine baking soda and 1/3 cup cold water; stir to dissolve and set aside.
- Cream butter.
- Gradually add 1 cup sugar and cream until fluffy
- Blend in salt & vanilla
- Mix cocoa with another 1/3 cup cold water
- Beat into creamed mixture
- Add flour alternately with remaining 3/4 cup sugar
- Fold into batter
- Add baking soda and water mixture; mix well
- Pour into two 9 inch layer pans or one 9 x 13 inch pan
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
- Cool on racks and frost with Cocoa Frosting(see below)
- FROSTING
- Combine butter, sugar, vanilla, cocoa, salt & milk
- Beat together until well blended
