How to make it

  • On a lightly floured surface, roll pastry to 12-inch circle
  • Place in a 9-inch pie plate
  • Turn under edge, flute.
  • Unwrap caramels and melt with margarine & water in heavy saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently until smooth.
  • Gradually add to combined sugar, eggs, vanilla and salt; mix well
  • Stir in pecans; pour into pastry shell
  • Bake at 350 degrees, 45 to 50 minutes or until pastry is golden brown.
  • Cool - Filling appears soft, but will firm as it cools
  • Top with whipped cream or have some ice cream!
