Ingredients
- 2 envelopes dry yeast
- 6 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 cups skim milk
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup cornmeal
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400. Grease 2 loaf pans and sprinkle well with cornmeal.
- In a large bowl, mix 3 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt & soda. Heat liquids to very warm and add to dry ingredients. Then beat well. Stir in remaining 3 cups of flour then spoon into prepared loaf pans. Sprinkle tops with cornmeal.
- Bake at 400 for 25 minutes. Test these for doneness by tapping tops - when they sound "hollow" they're done. Remove from pans immediately and cool on rack. To serve, slice and toast.
