How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 400. Grease 2 loaf pans and sprinkle well with cornmeal.
  • In a large bowl, mix 3 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt & soda. Heat liquids to very warm and add to dry ingredients. Then beat well. Stir in remaining 3 cups of flour then spoon into prepared loaf pans. Sprinkle tops with cornmeal.
  • Bake at 400 for 25 minutes. Test these for doneness by tapping tops - when they sound "hollow" they're done. Remove from pans immediately and cool on rack. To serve, slice and toast.

    This recipe doesn't require the dough to raise? I can't remember if mine did or not. I hope to try it soon.

    Glad to see this recipe. I misplaced my recipe for english muffin loaf. Mine had variations of it..I had one that tasted like oranges.

    I can't wait to make this, my daughter loves English muffins with a lightly fried egg. Me, i love it slathered with butter and Apple jelly.
